2020 Syrah

This wine is intensely aromatic, with abundant fruit and spice. Scents of dried eucalyptus, freshly tilled earth, slippery elm bark, fig newton, pink peppercorn, cherries, black plum, and tobacco. On the palette, orange marmalade is the lift that carries through the fine tannins and snappy acidity.

Pair with shawarma, tzatziki, pizza, pot pie, loaded baked potato, or roasted root vegetables.

Vineyard notes

What a year! Remember that? A lot of amateurs helped us make this wine, since it was all of my available friends that were willing to risk their lives to come and help us. The Syrah helped out by making it through the heat really well.

Production notes

Our first pick we separated it into two lots, one de-stemmed and the other 60% whole cluster.Healthy ferments, pumpovers led to gentle punchdowns, with four weeks on the skins before being sent to press. The 2nd pick happened 11 days later and 100% WC. It too, spent four weeks on the skins. Between foot stomps and pumpovers, we ended up with a very happy beast.
