2022 Group Song

We’ve got concrete, we’ve got wood, we’ve got stainless steel…We’ve got a group of grapes that were destined to meet when they did.

Moody, earthy, vibrant, and fresh. Leather and lace, tar and roses. Green and grounded; tobacco, clove, and nutmeg. Tart cherry and cola that finishes with dark chocolate and hazelnut. Just plain old delicious.

Pair with assless chaps and some devil wings (IYKYK), or roast chicken and an apple and kale salad.

Vineyard notes

We had a slow and cool start to the year, which resulted in lower than normal yields. The dry spring and summer were perfect for slow ripening, and by harvest the fruit was balanced and vibrant. Yields were moderate and it was a good vintage in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Production notes

Each component for this blend was vinified separately, using a variety of techniques and vessels. The Merlot was destemmed and fermented in a stainless steel tank. Block 7 Cabernet was fermented in a wooden foudre. The Cabernet Franc from Block 9 was destemmed and fermented in a concrete tank. Right Left Syrah was 50% whole cluster. All ferments were carried out by native yeast, and after pressing, the wines were aged in French oak before being blended and bottled in the summer of 2024.
