2019 Petit Verdot

2019 was a super aromatic year. It shows in this wine especially. Fresh mint, smoky shiso leaf, intense black fruit, rose and wisteria, spicy clove, and citrus peel. There’s an earthy, chalky loveliness to this wine, but make no mistake… She will dominate you.

I would definitely eat food with this wine. Maybe some green curry, udon, pasta arrabbiata, with Edith Piaf playing in the background. Bon Appétit!

Vineyard notes

Petit Verdot is not a vigorous growing vine, but in 2019 it did it's best to reach the top wire. This was a very late pick compared to previous years and the fruit came in perfect and very cold.

Production notes

The fruit was hand harvested on two dates to allow for more ripeness and complexity.  Both lots were destemmed and fermented in both stainless steel vats and a new puncheon barrel. After three weeks on the skins, the wine was pressed to French oak (50% new) where it matured for 20 months until it was racked and bottled.
