The Whole Picture

Quiet.
It’s a rare commodity these days. A beautiful sound.
It’s quiet in the vineyard. I take a deep breath. I remind myself to be grateful for what is. For the beauty of nature and the eyes to behold it. The heart to open to it. The mind to contemplate it. And the patience and privilege to witness it.

What a number.
Here we are.
What a world.
So easy to focus on the rows that divide us, the differences in each vine. Instead I look at this place holistically, how one without the other wouldn’t be exactly what it is. How there’s beauty in the struggle. I will not focus on the rain, except that it quenches our thirst. I will not focus on disease, other than that it invites and requires us to show up differently. I will focus on the beauty. On the symbiotic nature of it all. The whole picture. The wholeness. And the richness that comes from it.
