2020 Rosé

Our Rosé has probably been my greatest teacher. It has taught me lessons in patience, curiosity, having faith, and knowing when to guide and when to step aside. This block, more than any other maybe, takes its’ yields very seriously. She will ferment how and when she wants, and will not be rushed. She’s always worth the wait, and I think she knows it.

This year she gives us lime blossom, perfectly ripe strawberries, with a bit of California citrus, as well as a hint of the leaves and sunshine that made her possible.

She has an energy to her that stays with you long after she’s gone.

Vineyard notes

Our low yielding block of grenache (clone 513) was picked before the intense heat waves that defined the 2020 vintage. The fruit ripens at different speeds, so we harvested the ripest first, leaving the rest to mature a few more days to develop flavors and aromatic complexity.

Production notes

All the fruit was harvested in the early morning hours and went directly to press to capture the bright acid and delicate aromas that make this wine special. The slow and cold fermentation was completed in neutral oak barrels with native yeasts.
