Vineyard notes
Abundant rain in the winter and a cool spring started the 2023 growing year. We saw healthy growth and large clusters. Because the crop was trending larger than average, we focused on cluster thinning and an aggressive green drop to keep the vines in balance. The cool growing season persisted into September and finally in the early part of October we experienced warmer temperatures that pushed the fruit to ripeness.
Production notes
This 100% Cabernet Franc hails from two blocks that neighbor each other. Two tons of Block 9 were destemmed cleanly and fermented in our 2-ton cement tank. The remainder was fermented 50% whole cluster with Block 8, which was harvested on two different days. All lots were pressed after going dry a month later, and aged separately in 15% new French oak before being blended and bottled in 2025.
