2016 Block Four Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine in particular tells its complete story. Strong and delicate, serious yet playful, old-world with a new take. It’s a study of opposing forces bringing harmony. The tannins have a serious grip but are starting to integrate. While there are pronounced blackberry and fennel notes they are giving way to more aged characters of caramel, tobacco, and forest floor.

In 2016 we experienced an earlier-than-average bud break due to warm spring days, but luckily things cooled down in May and the grapes were allowed to ripen slowly and evenly throughout the summer. By august, the nighttime temperatures dropped significantly, aiding in acid preservation and slowing sugar accumulation. We were still experiencing drought in 2016, but the yields were closer to average.

Fermented in concrete, aged in 100% new Taransaud barriques.
