Listen to Your Mother

Spring is here! Bud break! Flowers! Everything comes alive. There is so much promise in springtime.

In true miracle spirit, Mother Nature’s rains have washed the drought away. We are officially out of the drought!
 
I love that this one coincides with Mother’s Day: one of my favorite days to celebrate, thinking of my own mother and hers, and of all the strong ones out there- creating, inheriting, and raising life. Between my children and my vines, I think the vines are more trainable. Being a mother is about letting go of your past, and only listening to what is going on right now. It doesn’t matter what happened before. It's the same with nature, in a vineyard. Throw out last year’s book. It will never be written in the same way again. Which means: we must adapt, we must listen. We must observe, without trying to control.  We must become a part of the team. Guidance.
