Full Bloom

Bud break is here.
The air is crisp.
The winds are howling and we’re waiting for Mother Nature to realize it’s spring now.
We’re ready, Earth.
I feel like we live in Ireland these days instead of California. It is so lush and overgrown and the deepest assortment of green I have ever seen. The poppies are in full bloom, changing the colors of the mountainsides to bright orange.
The coyotes seem well fed this year, too. I saw one sauntering through the vineyard the other day and I mistook it for a small pony. She wasn’t in a rush, either. I pulled over and waited patiently. I respect the confidence and swagger of a very large, satiated coyote.
We’ve been doing a lot of tasting and blending recently, and it is so exciting and inspiring to revisit the most recent magic that was made here. I love this team of women. We laugh, we cry, we laugh til we cry, and we practice patience, love, and curiosity together with this vineyard and these beautiful wines.
